As per the Hindu shastras, Early morning i.e. 5am or around time is the best time to perform the daily Puja. Puja can also be perfromed post sunrise, in the morning which is also considered as most Sattvik time or Sato Guna (mode of goodness) is highly active during this time.
If you do the Puja at early morning time your mind will be calm and highly focused.
There are many steps involved in conducting the daily Puja such as Pancha – upacharas
and Shodashopachara Puja.
You can do Mantra Japa, Shlokas Chanting while performing puja.
You will get blessings and positivity by performing daily puja.
Pujas are offered to various Gods and Goddesses depending upon particular day
which is dedicated to a particular Deity.
Take bath and put on clean clothes / Uparana and sit peacefully in front of God.
You have to sit on a mat or puja aasana to perform the pooja.
Concentrate while offering prayers and entire pooja vidhi.
Bathe the symbolic form of Deity with water and auspicious items like milk, honey, curd, sugar and Ghee which is
also called as Pancha-amruta while chanting mantras.
You can dress the diety or offer sacred clothes to Deity.
Offer tilak / Gandha and Akshata along with Flowers.
Light an incense or dhoop stick and worship the Deity.
Light a lamp and wave a lamp in clockwise direction.
Offer food / Fruit to Deity as Naivedya followed by betal leaves, betal nuts with money.
After completion of basic puja, chant mantras, slokhas or stutis of Deity.
Distribute and consume the food offered to Deity as Prasada.
Pancha – upacharas Puja includes gandha, Pushpa, dhoop, Deepa, and naivedya. Collectively, these five services engage the five senses and hence it is called as, Pancha – upachara Puja.
Gandha as Touch
Sandalwood paste cools the skin and is a natural insect repellant.

एष गन्धः अमुक देवताय और देव्यै नमः|
Pushpa as Hearing
The recitation of the deity’s names that accompanies each flower engages the ears.
पुष्प (फूल)
एतस्मै पुष्पाय नमः|
एत गंधपुष्पे पुष्पाय नमः|
एतद पुष्पं अमुक देवताय और देव्यै नमः|
अक्षत (अरवा चावल)
एतस्मै अक्षताय नमः|
एत गंधपुष्पे अक्षताय नमः|
एतद अक्षतः अमुक देवताय और देव्यै नमः|
Dhoop as Smell
Incense envelops the entire temple with a refreshing fragrance for the nose.
धूप
एतस्मै धूपाय नमः|
एत गंधपुष्पे धूपाय नमः| (चन्दन सहित पुष्प दे)
वनस्पति रसोद्भुत गन्धाढ्य सुमनोहरः|
मया निवेदिता भक्त धूपहयं प्रतिगृह्यतम||
एष धूपः अमुक देवताय और देव्यै नमः|
Deepa as Sight
The lamp illuminates the deity and brings out the beauty of the icon to the eyes.
दीप
एतस्मै दीपाय नमः|
एत गंधपुष्पे दीपाय नमः| (चन्दन सहित पुष्प दे)
एष दीपः अमुक देवताय और देव्यै नमः|
Naivedya – Taste
Food that has been offered to the deity is eaten and entices the taste buds.
नैवेद्यं समर्पयामि
ॐ प्राणाय स्वः
ॐ अपानाय स्वः
ॐ व्यानाय स्वः
ॐ उदानाय स्वः
ॐ समानाय स्वः
मध्ये-मध्ये पानीयं समर्पयामि
हस्तौ-प्रक्षालयामि, पादौ-प्रक्षालयामि
मुखे शुध्द-आचमन्यम समर्पयामि।
You can chant the below Mantras while performing puja.
Ganesh Gayatri Mantra:
Om Lambhodaraya vidmahe Mahodaraya deemahi Thanno danthi prachodayath
Aum Ekadantaya Viddhamahe, Vakratundaya Dhimahi, Tanno Danti Prachodayat
Om Thatpurashaya vidhmahe Vakrathundaya dheemahi Thanno danthi prachodayath
Rudra Gayatri Mantra:
Om Tatpurushaya Vidmahe Mahadevaya Dhimahi Tanno Rudrah Prachodayat
Durga Gayatry Mantra:
Om Kathyayanaya Vidhmahe Kanya Kumari cha Dheemahe Thanno Durgaya Prachodayath
Lakshmi Gayatri Mantra:
Om Shree Mahalakshmyai Cha Vidmahe Vishnu Patnyai Cha Dheemahi Tanno Lakshmi Prachodayat
Om Saraswati Gayatri Mantra:

Sathya Sai Gayatri Mantra:

Kali Gayatri Mantra:
Om Maha Kalyai Ca Vidmahe Smasana Vasinyai Dhimahi Tanno Kali Prachodayat.
